This is our happy little Jacob at 17 months, Andrew's little boy. He is such a sweet, sweet little boy. We adore him. His bubbly little personality is so contagious. It's no wonder his sister, Tristyn. 3, adores him also.

This is our precious Bradley shown eating his first birthday cake. Yum, yum....his mommy makes great cake. Check out those big brown eyes just like Mommy's. (Amy) He makes us all smile with his ways of getting right in your heart. I had the chance to keep Bradley yesterday. What fun! At 18 months, he is full of playful creativity. I thoroughly enjoyed being with him during the day. Big sister Natalie was in kindergarten! But I also had the chance to go with her mommy to pick her up from school, meet her teacher, see her classroom, her work, desk, locker, the whole works. What fun it was!

Hey, everyone!

It's already autumn........and I haven't been on here since spring....where did summer go? Wow, time is really getting away from me. I'm so into grandmothering, volunteering, piano teaching, and occasionally housework that I wonder where the days go!

Things are going well here for the most part. Hubby has retired again, decided he needed some time off the clock for awhile...and I 100% agree. He is 62...he deserves more leisure without the pressures. Don't you think? Now, I'll get to make my lists for his "honey-do" jobs that have been on hold. You know he's looking forward to that; I know I am. :)

I'm sending along some adorable photos of my beautiful Tristyn and Natlie.

We are blessed with our first little grandson!

......I've finally figured out how to post blogs again!!!......
Bradley Gage Allen was born on February 12 and what a handsome little guy he is! He weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz. and I was fortunate to be part of the delivery team again. His mommy, (daughter Amy) insisted; and, of course I was thrilled to be there. I often think that perhaps God has allowed me to live long enough to be a grandmother and enjoy my role as that. I dearly love my grandchildren and being with them. I didn't know until I became a grandmother what joy it is!
Big sister Natalie Carol is so excited about having her own baby brother and being allowed to bond with him, hold him, and she absolutely adores him! It is so much fun to watch them together, as she gently touches him and talks softly to him each time she approaches him. Priceless!

Bradley Gage Allen, at 10 weeks!

Barb's Blog
Happy New Year, everyone who checks to see if I have blogged anything in the last few months. Sorry, it just doesn't seem to be my thing these days.
Christmas was wonderful this year. We celebrated with our son, Steven and his little daughter, Crista, in Mississippi. It was great to enjoy the church services, decorations, music, and just being together with him. I am thankful that he is doing well and that he is happy and stays busy at work. He feels, as we do, that God has someone special for him some day. But, right now, he is being very patient about it.
We had Christmas with our other children on New Year's Eve and Day for a couple of nights at the lake house at Ky. Lake. This has become a tradition for us in the last few years. We all enjoy it so much. Amy, Nathan, and Natalie arrived Sun. evening just as we finished making preparations for our family party. Then came Kris, a close family friend (of Andrew's) and then Jim and his girlfriend, Karon. Jim's a special friend of Charlton's (and me, too). Andrew and Amanda and Tristyn could not come as he was working. And we missed them. It is so fun when everyone is there. And we had plenty of room for everyone. Jim, Karon, and Kris all went home about 2:30 A.M. on Jan. 1. We all had loads of fun playing Password. Even Natalie stayed up until after 12 midnight.
May 2007 be a much better year for everyone!
We are thankful always for God's blessings of home and family. What a magnificient God who loved us so much that He gave his only son that we could have everlasting life with Him!

My typical day around here......

Hey, it's me......long time no blog! Today is a typical day for me. After awaking around 7:00 A.M., I took out trash by the curb, fixed coffee, checked e-mail, began receiving phone calls from people needing my volunteer services:
1) Lana, asking me to please come to the Thursday evening First District KEA meeting to hear Reg Weaver, NEA Pres. speak about membership, dinner, etc. She wants to secure my presence there to help with whatever needs helping. I serve the KEA-R (retired) as an elected KEA-R Board Member, and am a life-time member of KEA/NEA. However, I teach piano until 5:00 that day, so I'll have to rush to get there and participate and enjoy the catered spread of yummy foods even.
2) Next call was from Betsy, Girl Scout Office, asking me to secure a place for the Fall Area 23 meeting in Hickman as it is our turn to host that meeting, and reminded me of our Hickman Service Unit Meeting tonight and asked me if I had any requests for "stuff" needed for that (I'm the Service Unit Manager and conduct the meeting of the leadership team and adult volunteers once a month). So, I secured the Hickman Bank for the 14th of November and now the Area Chair can inform the council that we have a date and place for Area 23's meeting.
3) Take a call from Debbie, from our church, who tells me that she and I have been requested to sing a duet at the Praises for Him segment at the bandstand downtown Thursday evening to represent our church's participation. And we need to get together to practice for that. HOW WILL I TEACH PIANO, GO TO PADUCAH TO THE KEA MTG., AND SING AT THE BANDSTAND all at the same time, I wonder????
4) After preparing the agenda for tonight's G. S. Leaders' meeting, I begin to prepare for next week's local Fulton County KRTA (Ky. Retired Teachers Assoc.) luncheon meeting. I am the elected President of this group after much arm-twisting and pleading from the now-long-time president Julia.
5) In about an hour, I have to go with Charlton and a friend of his to retrieve the financial materials from the Civil Air Patrol Finance officer who is retiring and moving to Minnesota with his son and family. Again, I've been recently trained on the financial officer's job, including the CAP's state designated Quicken program that is required for the accounting process. So, the CAP computer, desk, all components will now be in my care and will be placed in a corner of the piano studio for easy access for me and the unit until the new airport gets built and the CAP office is available there.
This is the story of most of my days and weeks. And, it's only 10;00 A.M. So, this is being retired!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
And, all I really have the urge to do is go visit Natalie or Tristyn. :) We are so blessed with our children and their children. We spent three wonderful days at oldest son Steven's house over Labor Day and enjoyed our time there, being with granddaughter Crista so much. We don't get to be with her much. And we are looking forward to this weekend to have Amy and Natalie down for the annual Goodyear picnic, followed by our church's hotdog, hamburger, and icecream get-together outside with a singing quartet, then the Fulton's Pontotoc Festival Grand Parade. Natalie will enjoy all this and we will through her eyes.
I thank God for all our blessings....and the ability to do all this volunteer work ...yeah, and the hard times, too, as they force us to be stronger in Him, and learn over and over again to turn our burdens over to him when we don't know how to handle things....becaues HE DOES. What would we do without Him to help us through this journey, called life?
